How To Know When It’s Time To Replace Your Roof

Most times we end up replacing most of our stuff simply because they broke down or are no longer in good working condition. For example, you will replace your clothes when they no longer fit or are worn out. So how about your roof? Most people only get to replace their roof either because it caved in due to a large storm or has massive leakage or there was a fire incident. How can you tell that it’s about time to get the roof replaced?

Here are a few signs to look out for when you are thinking about replacing your roof:

1. The age
Most roof can last between 20 – 25 years with most of them coming with warranties of up to 20 years. As such, if your roof hasn’t been replaced for more than two decades, it might be time to get it replaced before a storm or the wind causes much more damage that will cost you lots of money for the repairs.

2. Worn out shingles
Shingles that look old and are bent are ideally a good indicator that your rooftop needs to be replaced immediately. If they have a different color or are ideally broken then you, should consider replacing all of them as soon as possible. If this sounds like something you might be experiencing then you should be glad you found our website.

3. Leakage
When the roof starts leaking consistently each time it rains, it might be time to replace the roof. Most times a leakage will require a full repair of the roof with new roof material. Leaks usually cause the gathering of molds and other bacteria and if not handled appropriately at the right time end up causing more damage to the entire house.

4. Paint peeling
Most times when painting starts coming off from the walls or the roof, it’s usually a clear indicator that the building is slowly falling apart and the same applies to the roof. Though many homeowners ignore this, it’s important to have professionals have a look at your roof and advice especially if the paint is coming off and it’s been ages since you replaced your roof.

5. Stained ceiling board
A stained ceiling is usually another clear indicator of a problem on the roof. The cause of this could range from the poor fitting of the underlying materials to aging of your roof. Painting the stained area might seem like the most appropriate thing to do, but it could be hiding the real reason as to why that stain is even there in the first place. You will need to get a proper assessment to be able to establish the cause of the stain and see how best to deal with it.
